WiFi FAQ

  • eero uses a single SSID that allows devices to live on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz radio frequency. This ensures your devices are able to move along eero’s mesh efficiently, delivering the highest results to the devices throughout your entire home.

    Some devices require the use of the 2.4 GHz frequency. These devices are still usable with eero. If you are experiencing an issue with any particular device, we recommend referring to the manufacturer to see if they have any recommended steps.

  • If you run into any trouble during setup or when adding a new eero to your existing network, you may need to take additional troubleshooting steps to correct the issue.

    If you encounter one of the error messages described below, simply follow the associated instructions.

    Bluetooth is off

    During the setup process, if your phone’s Bluetooth is off, you will be prompted to turn it on to complete setup. It is suggested to have Bluetooth on so that your eero can both pair with your existing network and complete registration of your eero.

  • Strategically placing your eeros is the single most important step you can take to ensure your system provides fast, reliable WiFi to every room in your home. While there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution for placement, we’ve put together a list of some of our favorite tips to help you find the perfect spots to place your eeros.

    Each home is different. Where you place your eeros will depend on the layout of your home and the materials used in its construction.

  • As with all routers, resetting your eero(s) can be a useful troubleshooting step. We generally recommend deploying simpler steps—such as power cycling your eero by unplugging its power cable, waiting 30 seconds, and plugging it back in—before attempting a reset.

    If you do need to reset your eero, you can do so through the eero app or by hitting the small reset button located on the back of the device (1st-generation), pushing the reset button on the back (2nd-generation),

  • If you’re having trouble with your eero or modem connection when setting up your gateway eero, here are a few things to check:

    1. Make sure your gateway eero is connected to your modem via the Ethernet cord provided in the box.
      • It should clip snuggly into your gateway eero and one of the Ethernet ports on your modem. (Note: Be sure to plug the ethernet cord into the correct port on your modem.
